Turkey for you and Turkey for me

For years, I watched the Thanksgiving Day Parade on tv with my dad as he made me mickey pancakes and turkey bacon. YES I ate a FULL breakfast before the massive *2* Thanksgiving feast(s). Having divorced parents helped this fat kid stay .. well, fat. Not that I'm complaining about having more than enough food on such a holiday. I was thankful to have two households full of people who loved me enough to celebrate and although splitting the time was a little exhaustive, I still loved seeing all my uncles/aunts on my mom's side... at dad's house, we couldn't quite  get the extended fam from Iowa, but we still had a feast to remember.

Now that I'm in New York, I can't bring myself to go watch the parade live (except for that time I thought I was going to get to the gym before Austin's Texan feast and got stopped by Kermit rounding the corner on Broadway. Turns out my subway stop was on the wrong side of the parade and I hadn't quite thought that through). Instead, there's so much nostalgia in watching it on the tv and seeing all the performances from the safety and warmth from my apartment-- I have a deathly fear of crowds-- and I'll hit up an Insanity dvd in a bit to make myself feel no guilt as I scarf down Austin Miller's delicious feast.
